Very large bird - stands about 2 meters tall. Males are mainly black with white wings and a buff tail. Females are grayish brown, with whitish wings. Adults and young of 1 month old or more can run at speed of 50 to 60 km/h, sometimes with wings held out for balance. Males may perform elaborate display in courtship and distraction when breeding.
